There were a series of consequences: unemployment became very high; many people had to leave their native places to look for work. There was a significant shifting of population from the south to the north where the new factories were built. These small towns were called MUSHROOM TOWNS. Women and children were employed because they could be paid less and were easier to control. Industrialism and capitalism would a radical change in society in fact together would abolish class differences and redistribute wealth.
